Graduate Painting and Drawing
The graduate painting and drawing program at BGSU promotes the idea of a synergistic relationship between self-expression and the craft painting and drawing. Within this context the flexibility necessary for students to conduct research and develop their unique visual language is given priority. Faculty members align themselves with the student's direction and serve to guide them to achieve their stated goals.
Students are encouraged to broaden their artistic scope with accompanying courses from related areas. Moreover, self-motivation and a commitment to the studio are desired core traits, considered necessary for a student's development and ultimate success. Graduate painters accepted into the MFA program are provided with about 250 square feet of space with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. A wing of the Fine Arts Center is dedicated to 2-D studios creating a dynamic atmosphere of close contact and cooperation among the students.
