Undergraduate Two-Dimensional Studies

In the search for new forms of expression many contemporary artists explore and combine various media and draw upon disparate historical philosophies as a way to define and inform their work. The BFA in Two-Dimensional Studies (2D Studies) leads to a dynamic and innovative approach to the study of studio art. The program continues to be based on respect for tradition and the mastery of craft yet is enriched by openness to new media and inventive studio practice.

Created to unify and strengthen the former areas of drawing, painting, printmaking and photography the BFA in 2D Studies combines them into a single academic structure. Flexibility exists within this new program for students to concentrate their research within a given area, for example, painting or photography, or to explore the creative potential in multiple concentrations and/or mixed media.
