Undergraduate Glass

The BGSU Glass Area within 3 Dimensional studies is an environment for a student who is an active, creative, independent maker and critical thinker. The Glass Area embraces the ideas of creative production, ongoing experimentation, research and critical investigation. Students are encouraged to become innovative thinkers and creative problem solvers in approaching glass as an art making material. Glass art projects that involve other materials are supported and encouraged.

The Glass Area has state of the art facilities that allow students to work with Hot, Warm and Cold glass techniques. An active Visiting Artist program allows students intimate access to leaders in the world of contemporary art glass. The area around Bowling Green is well known for its significance to the start of the Studio Glass Movement. The Toledo Museum of Art Glass pavilion has one of the best collections of historical and contemporary art glass in the world and there are many local glass studios in the area.

Both undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered within the Division of 3-D studies with glass as a major studio concentration. Both degrees are accredited by NASAD
