Galina Tirnanic, Art Historian/ Getty Research Assistant to Director of Programs, Getty Research Institute
Galina Tirnanic is a scholar of Byzantine Art History, with an interest in punishment practices and the spectacle of the body in the medieval and early modern periods. Currently at the Getty Research Institute, Tirnanic helped staged the international exhibition, Holy Image, Hallowed Ground: Icons from Sinai, at the Getty in 2006. She is the author of several forthcoming essays, including: "Divine images and earthly authority at the Chora Parekklesion in Constantinople" (Negotiating Secular and Sacred in Medieval Art, ed. A. Walker & A. Luyster, 2009) and "Image in Pain: Icons, Old Bones and New Blood" (Beholding Violence in Medieval and Early Modern Culture, ed. A. Terry & E. Labbie, 2010).

Tomasula''s work centers on themes of mortality, regeneration and the dynamics of human relations. Her paintings examine and extend traditions of Latin American religious art by depicting familiar objects in highly stylized and symbolic compositions. Ms. Tomasula has mounted numerous solo exhibitions including venues such as the Forum Gallery in NYC and Zolla Lieberman Gallery in Chicago.

Dr. Mary Louise Poling
Director of the Student Teaching Program and Field Based Clinics
The Ohio State University, Department of Art Education
Dr. Poling is currently Director of the Student Teaching Program and Field Based Clinics at Ohio State University. Her extensive knowledge of successful teaching practices comes from her liaison experiences with numerous art teachers, her participation in a significant Anneberg/Getty Trust grant project in art education, her personal teaching experiences, and her research on teacher education. In 2003, Dr. Poling was a member of the arts content writing team for the Ohio Visual Arts Academic Standards. She has also served as a consultant to many Ohio school districts on art education programming, teaching, and professional development.
Dr. Poling is an Ohio native with a Ph.D. in Art Education from Ohio State University and other academic degrees from Miami University and Youngstown State University.
