SAEA will have Virginia Bowerman coming in to talk to the art education majors about teaching in the real world. She is the head of the Northwest Ohio Art Education Association, so she will be emphasizing the importance of art at a more state level. She is also a teacher at Ft. Meigs Elementary in Perrysburg.

Visiting Artist: Genevieve Waller

Genevieve Waller is an artist and scholar from Wichita, Kansas who creates and studies photograms - cameraless photographs. In 2001, she completed a B.A. in Art History with an emphasis in Photography and a minor in French from Wichita State University, and in 2006 she received her M.F.A. in Photography and Art History from Ohio University. She has worked for the art journal Afterimage, as a grant writer, and as a photography instructor.
Genevieve has received grants to study at the Santa Fe Workshops in New Mexico as well as the International Center for Photography and the Kitchen Summer Institute for Young Artists in New York City. For the 2006-2007 academic year she was a Fulbright Scholar in Berlin at the Universitat der Kunste, researching the history of the photogram in Germany. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Visual and Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester in Western New York.
