Dennis Recchia - Dreamworks: Animation Film Industry Overview and Career Development

Come learn about the Animation Industry from an expert in the field. Visiting artist, Dennis Recchia will talk about the many types of career possibilities for both fine and digital artists interested in entering the exciting field of animation and computer graphics. Mr. Recchia will also take us through the animation process for feature film production from concept development through post-production and will share his observations on the current state of the industry. Mr. Recchia will show the stages of the pipeline and examples of the type of art and talents needed to create an animated film. "The workflow is a living object, not as rigid as you would think, or as rigid as a live-action film. Animated films are 75-80% bsed in illustration and film work," states Mr. Recchia.

Gregory Volk Visiting Artist Lecture

The Graduate Art Student Organization is honored to bring in Gregory Volk to give a lecture to all students and faculty that are interested! Volk is a New York-based art critic and freelance curator. He writes regularly for Art in America, where he is a contributing editor, and his articles and reviews have also appeared in many other publications, including Parkett and Sculpture. He is also Associate Professor in both the Department of Sculpture Extended Media and the Department of Painting Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. His lecture will include several Contemporary Artists, and his is encouraging a time at the end of the lecture for questions! Invite anyone interested to come to this free lecture!

ArtsX is an annual event staged by BGSU faculty and students in the creative and performing arts disciplines, including art and art history, music, theatre & film, creative writing, dance, architecture, and interior design. Through performances, exhibitions, hands-on demonstrations, and other artistic forms of expression, ArtsX highlights the unity and collaborative spirit of the arts at BGSU to the campus community and to the larger NW Ohio region.
