Lecture: Contemporary Artist Projects and Project-Based Learning in Art Education

Stef Stahl is Adjunct Professor in Museum Education Studies, Department of Art Education at Ohio State University and Director of Curriculum at SchoolArts Preparatory and Learning Center, a charter school in Columbus, OH, where he developed an arts integrated K-9 curriculum. Previously Stahl was Associate Director of Education at the Wexner Center in Columbus, collaborating with area art teachers on project-based learning, and Chair of Museum Education at the Toledo Museum of Art. Stahl taught museum education at New York University and developed education programs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Stahl continues to be a practicing artist.

ArtTalk: Matthew Friday, Remembered as an Image

Painter and Assistant Professor, Ohio University

Lecture: Remembered as an Image

Remembered as an Image Matthew Friday is Assistant Professor of Painting at Ohio University. He has exhibited nationally in numerous solo and juried exhibitions, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art Open Studios and Exit Art Gallery. As part of the international art collective spurse, he exhibited at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, New Haven ArtSpace and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He has presented papers relating visual culture and critical theory and was reviewed in the New Art Examiner, The Chicago Reader, The Post Standard, and Punk Planet. He has received grant support including a New York Federation for the Arts Strategic Opportunity Stipend.

ArtTalk: Dan Piersol, Mississippi: State of the Art

Lecture: Mississippi: State of the Art

Dan Piersol has a B.S., MA and MFA from BGSU . As the Doris Zemurray Stone Curator of Prints and Drawings at the New Orleans Museum of Art he added to the collection, works by Johns, Hockney, Chagall, Rouault, Picasso and Rembrandt, and organized exhibitions tours for Hockney to Hodgkin: British Master Prints l960-1980, Visions from the Soul: The Woodcuts of Hans Friedrich Grohs, as well as others. In 2005, Dan became Deputy Director for Programs and Chief Curator of Collections & Exhibitions at the Mississippi Museum of Art, working on the Museums new building, completed this year.

ArtTalk Lecture: Else Ploug Isaksen, Flirting with Space

Artist and co-curator, 2-D or not 2-D: Danish Artists Flirt with Space exhibition

Else Ploug Isaksen is an artist who combines photographic media with painting. A member of the Kunstenernes Kooperative ApS in Odense, Denmark, she studied at the Grafisk Skole in Arhus, the Jyske Kunstakademi and Den Europaeiske Filmhojskole in Ebeltoft, Denmark. Her work has been exhibited in numerous European as well as East Asian art galleries, and is held in a number of European public and private art collections. She is co-curator, with Mille Guldbeck, Associate Professor, BGSU School of Art, of 2-D or not 2-D: Danish Artists Flirt with Space, works by seven Danish artists who use flat space and bold color in paintings that play with fantasy and abstraction.
