TIKVAH Multimedia Concert
April 26, 2005
Where: Bryan Recital Hall
7:30 pm
On Tuesday, April 26, at 7:30 pm at the College of Musical Arts in Bryan Recital Hall a Concert of Hope and Remembrance: "TIKVAH "will be presented, by New York vocalist/actor,
Andrea Rae, Chicago's ATLAS SAX QUARTET, Hungarian Ballet Theatre soloist Celesta Haraszti, digital artist Heather-Elliott Famularo, and narration by Philip Markowicz himself.
"TIKVAH" is a gripping multimedia theatrical chamber music extravaganza written by Burton Beerman, based on the memoirs of Philip Markowicz, a Holocaust survivor and Torah scholar. Beerman's music reflects with startling immediacy, the agony and hope that Philip's words speak about. "TIKVAH" is a musical and visual rendering of the Jewish experience, a universal message of HOPE, and a riveting, visceral-emotional connection for all listeners.
"TIKVAH" is not about death and destruction, but of hope and survival. TIKVAH celebrates the robustness and creativity that has enabled Jews throughout history to transcend persecution and despair and go on to live rich and meaningful lives as individuals and communities.
"TIKVAH" honors the survivors of the Holocaust and the legacy of Judaism and utilizes the power of music, video and dance to touch the hearts of an audience.
Meet Philip Markowicz and the artists at the reception following the concert.
