Old Traditions and New Directions

Where: BTSU Student Art Galleries
"Old Traditions and New Directions" features sculptures by the Sculpture Club complimented with photos by fine art majors. The exhibit runs Friday, April 11, through Saturday, April 26, in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Art Galleries. Galleryhours are Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visiting Design Educator and Artist's Lecture: Timothy Hadfield, "Any Color As Long As It Isn't Black"; A History of Color, it's Origins and Applications for Artisits and Designers

Timothy Hadfield is Director of Visual Communications at Robert Morris University, Pittsburg. A British artist and deisgner now resident in the United States, his undergrduate degree in Graphic Designwas awarded by Middlesex Polytechnic and his masters in Printmaking is from Chelsea College of Art and Design. He has taught in the Schools of Design, Art and Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University, and also at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. he has been a visiting artist and professor at many universities and colleges in the UK and US, including the Royal College of Art, London. Visiting Artist's Lecture: Phil Carrizzi

Master metalsmith Phil Carrizzi will be presenting a lecture on his work, Friday, April 11, 7:30 p.m. in room 1101. Phil is an Assistant Professor and Chair of Metals/Jewelry Design at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his MFA at University of Washington, Seattle in 2002 and received his BFA degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1999.

Visiting Artist & Navajo Healer: Francis Burnside

Fracis Burnside, Navajo Healer and Artist will share his experience as a healer and artist and the importance of art in the Navajo culture on Thursday, April 10 at 6:00pm in room 1101. The event is free and open to the public.

Visiting Artist's Lecture: Bekele Mekonnen on Contemporary Art in Ethiopia

As part of his three-month stay at BGSU's School of Art, Bekele Mekonnen will present a lecture discussing his career and contemporary art in Ethiopia. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsors: Jane Labino Black, Medici Circle, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Art.
