ARTalks presents... Dr. Amy Gilman

Dr. Amy Gilman, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Toledo Museum of Art

Amy Gilman joined the TMA in 2005. In 2004 she was a fellow in the European Painting and Sculpture Department at the Cleveland Museum of Art. She also spent four years at the Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art, most recently as associate curator, organizing among others a large outdoor installation for Spencer Tunick involving over 2,700 people on the Cleveland lakefront. Previously, Dr. Gilman worked in Chicago at the Museum of Contemporary Photography. She received her doctorate in Art History from Case Western Reserve University, her MFA in photography from Columbia College Chicago and her BS in Performance Studies from Northwestern University.

TEA TIME with Jeffery Clancy

Where: Fine Arts Center - Ceramics Studio

TEA TIME is meant to be a half hour presentation where we will be inviting faculty from around the school and university to come and give short slide talks while having tea and donut holes. It is supposed to be a nice break at the end of the week where students and faculty can relax and exchange ideas while having a bit of tea and sugar!

Bring your own mug! This is open to the BGSU community - Please join us when you can.

ARTalks presents... Peter Gourfain on Recent Work

Peter Gourfain, Printmaker and Mixed Media Artist, New York
Recent Work

Peter Gourfain received his B.F.A. from the Art Institute of Chicago. He has taught sculpture at the School of Visual Arts, Skowhegan School and Greenwich House Pottery, and been a visiting artist at the Cranbrook Academy and the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts. His work has been exhibited in many solo exhibitions, including at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. He is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts grants, a sculpture grant from Creative Artists Public Service Program, and a Solomon R. Guggenheim Fellowship.

ARTalks presents... Rick Valicenti

Where: Olscamp Hall - Room 117

Rick Valicenti is principal and principle of Thirst, a group devoted to the creation of Art with Function. Valicenti is a member of AGI, a former president of the Society of Typographic Art, a board member of AIGA/Chicago, and a juror for the National Endowment for the Arts' Presidential Design Awards. He has twice been nominated for a Chrysler Design Award, and has had one-person shows in Osaka and Tokyo.

Thirst works are in the permanent collection of The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Clients include Gilbert Paper, Herman Miller, Holly Hunt, The Monacelli Press, Fireorb and the Illinois Institute of Technology's College of Architecture.
