Tea Time: Tommy Frank

The BGSU Clay Club will be holding a Tea Time Friday, September 26 @ 3:30 PM in the ceramic department, room 1218. The new ceramic graduate student, Tommy Frank, is their guest for this week. Doughnut holes and tea will be provided! DON'T FORGET YOUR MUG!!!

ARTalks: Recent Work, Sue Hettmansperger

Sue Hettmansperger, University of Iowa

Sue Hettmansperger received B.F.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of New Mexico and attended the Yale University Summer School in Art, 1971. Her exhibitions include one-person shows in 2007, 2003, 1999, 1994, and 1990 at A.I.R. Gallery New York City, where she has been an affiliate member since 1989. Other exhibition venues have included Artemisia Gallery, Chicago; the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; and numerous exhibits in galleries and museums across the country. Her work appears in the book New American Paintings Midwest, 2005. She has received two Arts and Humanities Initiative Grants, and the Faculty Scholar Award from The University of Iowa; a Guggenheim Fellowship a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship (1983); as well as residency fellowships at Ucross Foundation (1992), Roswell Museum Artist in Residence Program (1990 and 1975), and the MacDowell Colony (1977).

The talk will be followed by the Opening Celebration of the new Lobby Display area, featuring donations to the Fine Arts Center Collections.

ARTalks: Fractured Cybertales: Navigating the Feminine, Juliet Davis

Juliet Davis, University of Tampa, Florida

Juliet Davis is an artist, writer, and researcher, teaching theory and practice in interactive media, visual culture, and media writing, with particular interest in cyberfeminism. Her art has exhibited in such venues SIGGRAPH, ISEA, FILE, Institute of Contemporary Art (London), MAXXI Museum (Rome), and The International Museum of Women (USA), the Tampa Museum of Art, and others. Neal Benezra, Director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, has honored her work for its "freshness and originality." Davis' peer-reviewed academic articles are published in Leonardo, Journal of Film and Video, Media-N, and other journals.
