A CONVERSATION: Glass Masters of Japan and the North American Studio Glass Movement

August 28 through September 23, 2012

Where: Willard Wankelman Gallery

his exhibition celebrates the evolution of studio glass from its American roots to an international dialogue, by exploring the ongoing relationship between Japanese and North American glass artists of Japanese descent.  It considers the parameters of a culturally influenced aesthetic and the cultivated vision that results from artistic interchanges.

Works by Japanese artists Masahiro Hachida, Jin Hongo, Kazumi Ikemoto, Iwao Matsushima, Etsuko Nishi, Yuichi Noda, Shunji Omura, Ryoji Shibuya and Yoshihiko Takahashi, as well as Japanese/American artists Masami Koda, Hiromi Takizawa and Sayaka Suzuki and Japanese/Canadian artist Naoko Takenouchi are featured.
Glass Masters of Japan and the North American Studio Glass Movement was organized in conjunction with the Glass Art Society 2012 International Conference in Toledo, Ohio in June, 2012.
