CLARISSA SLIGH: Jake in Transition from Female to Male
August 22 through September 17, 2006
Where: Willard Wankelman Gallery
A traveling exhibition courtesy of the Visual Studies Workshop.
The images in this thought-provoking exhibition chronicle a female to male sex change and juxtapose this process with a pre-Civil War account of two slaves escape in disguise from a Virginia plantation. In providing these two narratives, African-American photographer Clarissa Sligh asks each of us to explore how our own values and perspectives shape what we experience and how we express it.
This exhibition is possible through the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council and the BGSU Ethnic Cultural Arts Program.
